MassA lung mass is any pulmonary lesion seen as an opacity greater than 30 mm in diameter irrespective of its contour, border, or attenuation characteristics. The mass usually implies a solid or partly solid opacity. CT allows more exact evaluation of size, location, and attenuation.

Consolidationcures the margins of vessels and airway walls. Air-bronchogram sign may be present within the lesion. Pathologically, the consolidation consists of an exudate or other product of disease that replaces alveolar air, rendering the lung solid (as in infective pneumonia).
