Transformation of the Self,n were dissertating was unanticipated for many of them. They talked about being “obsessed,” “hysterical,” and “compulsive” during the dissertation as they invested so much of their life in this one activity. Yet, as in Suzy’s reflection above, they realized that the dissertation process, in many ways, had transformed them.

Realigning Relationships,y relationships are realigning. … There are conversations that I can’t have anymore because I want to have ones that are more meaningful, because that’s where I’m at. … So it does worry me, it does worry me. I don’t really know if there’s an answer to that in the long run. But right now I’m in this process.
