An Improved Extraction Method for the Quantitative Analysis of Pesticides in Waters ranged from 10 to 100 ng/1, dependent on the detectors (ECD. PND) and enrichment factor (1000 and 2000, respectively). Determination of Organic Chemicals in Sediments Taken from Three Unpolluted Estuaries in South Westhave shown that the major components in the samples are of biogenic origin. They include components of the leaf waxes of higher plants (nC., nC. and nC. alkanes), a long chain (C.) alcohol and sterols. Two of the latter, coprostanol and cholesterol, probably originate from sewage or animal waste discharges to the estuaries.
