Oceanography and Ecology of Phytoplankton in the St.Lawrence Estuary,n estuarine and coastal environments, with particular attention to studies conducted in the St. Lawrence Estuary. These factors are then invoked to explain the differences between the known subregions of the St. Lawrence ecosystem, which have been defined principally on the basis of phytoplankton biomass and primary production criteria.

The St. Lawrence Estuary: Introduction,d governments. In an age of growing awareness of interactive processes affecting the entire planet, those occuring at the frontier between the extensively manipulated continental home of the human race and the once-pristine world ocean merit such continued attention. Estuaries, however, are particul

Mathematical Modelling of Tides in the St. Lawrence Estuary, models, increasing in complexity from simple one-dimensional to baroclinic, is discussed. The performance of these models and their limitations are pointed out. In the last section, some recommendations are given for future work to improve our present knowledge of the tidal properties over the estua

Meteorologically and Buoyancy Induced Subtidal Salinity and Velocity Variations in the St. Lawrenceeter data and results of 2-D numerical models. The meteorological forcing shows oscillations with periods of 10–15 and 40–50 days, and a long-term trend with a time scale of approximately 130 days. The salinity data indicates that the 10–15 day forcing induced an interfacial oscillation which propag
