Variable Stars,included in any discussion of readily observable transient astronomical phenomena. None the less, there is much value in systematic, long-term series of observations of slowly varying red semiregular variables or long-period (Mira) stars by amateurs.

Information Sources,npredictable, as the preceding chapters have shown, there are others such as eclipses, occultations or meteor showers for which at least approximate predictions can be given, allowing some degree of advance preparation.
