Bound States in the Gaps of Periodic Latticeshe Floquet exponents of the solutions are real. If κ is made dependent on the wave intensity (index of refraction modified by the Kerr effect in optics), localized solutions appear inside the gaps, which are called Gap solitons.

Transport Properties in a Two-Coupled Zig-Zag Atomic Chain Model Including Dipole-Dipole Interaction of motion for both protons and heavy ions. In the continuum limit we can find some solutions for the proton displacements, described by certain solitonic forms. We finally discuss the obtained results and some further extensions of the model.
