Thermodynamics of Metal-Mediated Assemblies of Porphyrins,the latter being a measure of the ease of formation of a given cyclic structure or substructure. Criteria to assess cooperativity in self-assembly are also discussed. The principles are illustrated by selected examples involving metal-mediated assemblies of porphyrins in which the metal is incorporated into the porphyrin ring.
