Nuclei at High Angular Velocities,g approximation provides in principle a tool to describe all these phenomena in a selfeonsistent and unified way. There are, however, a number of points, where it clearly fails. Fluctuations have to be taken into account and a full quantum mechanical treatment seems to be necessary. New methods, which take into account those points are discussed.

On Collective Dynamics in Low-Energy Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions: Nuclear Elastoplasticity, alar giant quadrupole vibrations of nuclei and mass diffusion in nucleus-nucleus collisions are considered as well-established examples for the elastic and plastic limits, respectively, of elastoplasticity. The transition region may be explored in central nucleus-nucleus collisions. Observable effec

The Boltzmann Equation and Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions, ation appropriate for non-equilibrium processes. In the limit of full equilibration this equation will also tell us about equilibrium properties. A well known example of such an equation is the Boltzmann equation, which however has to be modified in order to correspond (in equilibrium) to the van de

Book 1986e of energies have become possible. This research focuses in particular on nonnucleonic degrees of freedom and on nuclear matter under extreme conditions, which require the explicit introduction of quarks into the description of nuclear reactions. Mean-field formulations are no longer adequate for t
