A review of low-latitude “Tethyan” calcareous nannoplankton assemblages of the Cretaceousand Late Cretaceous times. Early and Mid-Cretaceous Tethyan assemblages are situated within a broad equatorial belt about 40° N to S. During the Late Cretaceous nannofossil bioprovincialism increases resulting in the existence of typical Tethyan/tropical, subtropical and high-latitude nannofossil species.
