Five Lectures on Accretion-Driven Stellar X-Ray Sources, was a brief review on X-ray bursts, lecture #3 (by WHGL) was on the mass-radius relations of neutron stars, lecture #4 (by WHGL) was on the Rapid Burster, and lecture #5 (by JvP) was a brief review of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO) in the X-ray flux of X-ray binaries.

They behave like a relaxation oscillator: the time interval to the next burst is roughly proportional to the integrated flux in the previous burst (Lewin .. 1976). Attempts have been made to describe this recurrence behaviour of the Rapid Burster in terms of deterministic chaos (Celnikier 1977).

Neutron-Star Accretion,e, at its inner edge, should depend not only on the accretion rate and illumination but also on the spin inclination and obliquity of the magnetic dipole moment. An oscillating tilt angle may cause the superorbital period.
