Dioramas have been, hitherto, a rather neglected area of museum exhibits but a renaissance is beginning for them and their educational importance in contributing to people’s understanding of the natural world. This volume showcases how dioramas can reach a wide audience and increase access to biological knowledge.

Conservative Restoration and Reconstruction of Historical Natural History Dioramasir historical importance it was decided against replacing them with new displays, but rather in favour of restoring them by means that would ensure the preservation of the dioramas in a state that would be as original as possible. Problems encountered in the process, approaches to solutions, and measures eventually taken are described here.

History of Dioramas of panoramas and dioramas which soon spread around the world. The concept of the habitat diorama was developed at the end of the nineteenth century in Europe and North America and also considered aspects of nature conservation.
