Studies on the Inhibitory Effect on Ethanol Oxidation in Man After Administration of 4-Methylpyrazol understanding of the biochemical aspects of alcoholism. Recently BLOMSTRAND et al. (1,2) were able to establish distinct excretion patterns of .CO. in expired air in man after the administration of only 2 µC of ethanol-1-.C or ethanol-2-.C, thus enabling several consecutive studies with labelled ethanol to be made in human beings. Interaction between Ethanol Oxydation and Drug Metabolismo convert a wide variety of compounds into more polar (i.e., hydroxylated or dealkylated) derivatives. In our studies the increased oxygen uptake of perfused liver following the addition of a suitable substrate, e.g., aminopyrine, was used to estimate the rate of this microsomal process (1).
