Getting started: from T1 images to simulation,lenge, we first demonstrate how to generate a high quality mesh of a brain hemisphere from T1-weighted MR images using the tools introduced in Chapter 2. Next, we show how to define a finite element discretization of the diffusion equation (1.1) over this mesh to simulate the influx of an injected tracer.
