Candler Building,g on a midblock site. The architects solved the problem of how to make a tower stand out among lower flanking buildings by setting it off on its own base, a model that neatly adapted itself to the requirements of the setback zoning code of 1916. Because of this organization, the outlines of the Candler predominate over its surface ornament.
