Handling a Hard Disk,A hard disk (also known as a fixed disk or a Winchester disk) is a solid storage medium which is permanently fixed in place. It may be built into the computer as a standard feature, as in IBM’s XT, or it may be added later — either internal, replacing a floppy disk drive, or external, as a stand-alone.
