Logic interface system on navigational database systems, can be used as a common interface on heterogeneous database systems in distributed database systems. We show a refutation procedure which can reduce the search space by avoiding meaningless backtracking and redundant refutations.

A framework for interactive problem solving based on interactive query revision,ogic programming, which we call interactive query revision. Interactive query revision allows a user to modify queries and hypotheses and to act as a part of the inference engine, in addition to entering queries incrementally. We apply interactive query revision to an interactive LSI layout system.

An optimizing prolog compiler,e Virtual Prolog Machine Code, which enhanced efficiency and portability. Another advantage of the compiler is to generate PL.8 code which can be used on multiple machines including the IBM 370 and IBM RT-PC. We also introduce some declarative extensions , which are compatible with Prolog and powerful enough to produce efficient code.

A prolog based object oriented language SPOOL and its compiler, but also the dynamic method search. Internal representations of methods and states of objects are also presented so that the above techniques can be realized. Finally, this language processor is evaluated and compared with an earlier interpreter which we developed.
