The First of Many—Lobotomy and the State Mental Hospital in Vordingborg, 1940–1947 with the Directorate concerning lobotomy, the chapter investigates the selection of the first small group of patients from the Vordingborg mental hospital. The chapter also examines if various factors such as overcrowding contributed to the decision of Vordingborg psychiatrists to let their patients undergo neurosurgical treatment.
