Liver,from the blood as an energy source by oxidizing them completely to carbon dioxide and water, the liver has the unique capacity to convert these fatty acids into ketone bodies. It thus supplies the extrahepatic tissues with a major energy source, especially under conditions of limited availability of glucose.
