Gerhard Schwarze. Who is morally responsible for such things? Answers often come easily. ‘Germany is responsible for the war,’ we might say, or ‘the Hutus are responsible for the genocide.’ Initially such answers sound perfectly reasonable, but if we take a moment to think about them, they are terribly imprecise.
