Klimabedingte Änderungen in aquatischen Ökosystemen: Elbe, Wattenmeer und Nordseeen und Flachwasserbereichen sowie mögliche Einflüsse auf die Avifauna behandelt..Es zeigt sich, dass die zur Behandlung der Themen verfügbaren Veröffentlichungen ihren Schwerpunkt in der Deutschen Bucht bzw. der Nordsee haben. Am wenigsten wurden bisher die klimatischen Einflüsse auf das aquatische Ökosystem der Tide-Elbe behandelt.

Nicht zuletzt der jüngste, vierte Sachstandsbericht des Weltklimarates (IPCC 2007) unterstreicht, dass mit schwerwiegenden Folgen in verschiedensten Bereichen für Mensch und Natur zu rechnen ist (IPCC 2007, Worldwatch Institute 2007).
