Alienation and Unfreedom shows that, at heart, they form an analysis of how capitalist society thwarts human freedom by subjecting people to both personal and impersonal forms of domination. The chapter shows how this theory is retained and further developed in Marx’s later works and finishes by defending it against common criticisms.
