Theoretische Grundlagen,n Argumenten werden einerseits die zu prüfenden Hypothesen abgeleitet und andererseits ein Erklärungsmodell aufgestellt, auf dem die empirischen Analysen beruhen. Allerdings stellen die einzelnen theoretischen Zugänge zum Thema Körpergewicht und sozialer Status verschiedene Perspektiven dar und bauen nicht systematisch aufeinander auf.
