Abuse of Power they generally are either not punished at all or punished much less harshly than private individuals would be, because other government agents protect them from accountability. Government agents should instead be held to higher standards and punished . severely for transgressions than private citizens.

The Authority of Lawe actual social contract theory, the hypothetical contract theory, democratic theories, and utilitarian theories of authority. There is no reason to believe that individuals are generally obligated to obey laws merely as such.
