Packing schemes for gang scheduling, lots, if there is space. The migration algorithm is more robust, but is expected to suffer greatly due to the overhead of the migration itself. In either case fragmentation is not an issue, and utilization may top 90% with sufficiently high loads.

Dynamic vs. static quantum-based parallel processor allocation, earlier than the FB-PWS system, and vice versa. This leads to the definition of a modified EQS policy, called EQS-PWS, which has performance equal to or better than EQS and FB-PWS for all workloads examined in this paper.

A gang scheduling design for multiprogrammed parallel computing environments, esults of a mathematical model for our system. Using this model, we can obtain exact solutions for measures of system performance as a function of scheduling policy parameters, and thus determine optimal values for several system and policy variables such as the amount of time allocated to the time-slice of each task.
