A character-based analysis of the evolution of jellyfish blooms: adaptation and exaptation may be adaptations that evolved in response to selection for individual traits such as survival during periods of few resources, feeding on pulsed resources, and fecundity. These adaptations were apparently subsequently coopted by selection for reproductive success which favored mass occurrence. By

Comparative analysis of nuclear ribosomal DNA from the moon jelly , sp.1 (Cnidaria: Scyphozoa) with rative analyses of parsimony and dot plots showed that the IGS was highly informative. The sequence revealed here was the first completion of rDNA from the phylum Cnidaria, using as a model of rDNA for making molecular comparisons of jellyfish members.

Effects of temperature and light intensity on asexual reproduction of the scyphozoan, , (L.) in Taiwlly in warmer temperature and more light. Survival was reduced in the highest temperature. Strobilation did not occur in the lowest temperature in darkness. All measures of total asexual reproduction indicated that mid- to high temperatures would lead to faster production of more jellyfish. Continuo

Ontogenetic changes in the ecological function of the association behavior between jack mackerel , a of a predator model or feeding. Juveniles at 19 mm associated with moon jellyfish only in the presence of a predator model. Larger juveniles associated with moon jellyfish at 1 h and 3 h after feeding. Thus the ecological function of association was proposed to develop first from school formation,
