Silicides,ond does not entirely destroy the insterstitial character. (Amongst primary solid solutions (Chapter 3) we had seen already that the Si atom can enter the metal lattice either substitutionally or interstitially—an ambiguity also transposed to the compounds and depending on similar factors.)
