From PL to Sheaf Theory (Rock to Bach),each entitled to have our own preference in music. But let’s not forget that to the original geometers, homology was not a derived functor on the category of sheaves, nor a functor from spaces to groups satisfying axioms 1–7. Homology was space itself, space with multiplicities.

A severe limitation on the existence of such functors is therefore provided by the existence of spaces which have two different small resolutions.
