Seismic noise,smic noise although most sensors will have some frequency band where the instrumental noise is dominating (e.g. an accelerometer at low frequencies). The instrumental noise is dealt with in more detail in Chapter 2 on seismic sensors. So from now on in this section, it is assumed that noise is ground noise.

Correction for instrument response,onship (see Chapter 2). Furthermore, seismologists generally want to measure the ground displacement and one very important task is therefore to recover the ground displacement from a given recorded signal. This is also called correction for instrument response.
