The travel industry as part of the National Information Network in Norwaybetween actors from different parts of the country and the industry, based on their economical and technical conditions. The paper describes the organisational, economical and technical models we have developed for building such a network in the travel industry. The WWW demonstrator is described to show how the models can be implemented.

A preliminary study of a Norwegian systemy by Archdale et.al (1992) describes a proposal for a Destination Management System (DMS) made as early as 1968 in Britain. Several authors Kamfjord (1993), Aanonsen et.al. (1995), (Sheldon, 93) suggest that the tourism industry will (continue to) change considerably in the years to come due to new information technology.
