Pupil and Pseudopupil in the Compound Eye of DrosophilaAn explanation is given of the phenomenon of “deep pseudopupil” in the compound eye of Drosophila. This phenomenon is here exploited as a technique which, combined with that of optical neutralization of the corneal lenslets, permits the real time analysis of the rapid pigment migration occuring in receptor cells 1 to 6 under bright adaptation.

The Discrimination of Light Intensities in the Honey BeeThe phototactic attractivity of two luminous screens of different brightness was examined and the discrimination threshold over a range of five logarithmic units has been determined. Δ1/1 was found to be 0.135 at the highest and 0.60 at the lowest intensity used.
