Appropriate standards or at least reference sera must be available in order to make any standardisation possible. There must also be a consensus as to the methods of analysis to be used.

General advice,We strongly recommend the establishment of a system of record cards containing the identification information and amount in stock for all standard sera, as well as for labelled and unlabelled sera. A record card is produced for each preparation, on which the storage location should also be written.
