0924-199X odel is still taught by many academic economists or they use itto derive the AD-AS approach. On the other hand, the same economistsrealize the limitations of the basic IS-LM model and would not now useit for policy analysis, as they did in the past. The IS-LM Model: Its Role in Macroeconomics,umbers of equations and (endogenous) variables that would be able to determine the latter as solutions to simultaneous equations. They were seeking explanations of the business cycle during times of economic turmoil (stock exchange crashes and deep, prolonged depression).
