Ecological interface design (EID) and the management of large numbers of intelligent agents,m may lead to a poor calibration of operators’ trust in the automation and a magnification of automation-related problems. The focus of ecological interface design to graphically display the underlying system constraints offers a promising design strategy to promote effective use of agent-based automation.
