The Effects of FSH on Cell Preparations from the Rat Testis,Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) are required for the initiation of spermatogenesis in the immature rat (1), and for the restoration of spermatogenesis in the regressed hypophysectomized rat (2, 3).

Characteristics of Soluble Gonadotropin Receptors for LH and hCG,ovarian homogenates with specific binding affinity for LH and hCG have been treated with non-ionic detergents such as ‘Triton X-100’ and ‘Lubrol’ to obtain “solubilized” receptor preparations which are suitable for binding studies and physico-chemical characterization (1–3).

The Production of Androgen Binding Protein by Sertoli Cells,se target cell affected by this gonadotrophin was difficult to pinpoint because of the heterogeneity of cells within the germinal epithelium. Secondly, no specific endpoint for the acute effect of FSH was available.

FSH Binding in Rat Testes During Maturation and Following Hypophysectomy. Cellular Localization of d cellular site of action in the testis have not been clarified (1). Several morphologic and biochemical parameters are known to be affected by FSH. These effects have been more readily demonstrable in testes of immature or hypophysectomized animals compared to intact adults.
