TCP/IP, ATM and IP Cell Switching,This paper shows that the Internet and ATM networks are complementary in the short and medium term and solution as IP-switching are meaningful. However, in the long term new solutions as IP cell switching or adaptive networks should be available. A performance evaluation is proposed to compare the main solutions.

Protocol Mechanisms for Native ATM Transport Services,ol mechanisms for the data transfer component of this architecture. In order to evaluate the performance of the emerging system a subset of the architecture has been implemented. This reference implementation called “ATM Data Transfer Service (ADTS)” provides a framework for designing and evaluating protocol mechanisms in a real ATM environment.

Advanced Traffic Shaping Combined with Efficient DMA Transfer,tecture for the adapter is presented, we discuss how shaping and scheduling can be combined, and present measurements from our PentiumPro prototype implementation. The measurements show that such an adapter can shape and schedule more than 1000 connections at an aggregate rate of 155 Mbit/s.
