Porting a commercial finite difference time domain Electromagnetic code to a parallel architecture rformed using the Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) message passing libraries. The paper describes the background to PEPSE, how the FDTD code was parallelised, the experience obtained through the porting activity, the resulting scalability and the industrial impact of the results.
