Respiratory Control in Andean and Himalayan High-Altitude Natives so that their partial pressure of carbon dioxide in alveolar gas (.CO.) is higher and partial pressure of oxygen in alveolar gas (.O.) lower (4, 13, 14). It was also established that hyperpnea of exercise was less in the high-altitude natives than in the sojourners (14, 15).
