Armed Conflict, Trauma and Peacebuilding,between traumatising experiences and traumatic events. We will discuss issues surrounding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), argue that it is not necessarily the correct term to describe the after-effects of violence and suggest that ‘extreme trauma’ is perhaps a better term to use, particularly in the Matabeleland context.
