Hartmut Ditton The brain employs two modes of ocular motor control: Fast eye movements (saccades) and smooth (slow) pursuit eye movements (SPEM). Five distinct ocular motor systems are utilized to achieve clear vision. Four of the systems generate conjugate movements (version), one system generates dysjunctive horizontal movements (vergence).
