Macroscopic Theory of Crystallization from a Melt with Capillary Shaping: Verneuil’s Methodin growing large crystals of given cross section in an automated process. A stability analysis is also made for growing tubes by Verneuil’s method. The process is stable if the wall thickness is less than the capillary constant. Single-crystal corundum tubes of constant cross section have been made with specified growth parameters.
