A. Das Blenden-Szintillations-System, Lanka (see Glossary; B. H. Farmer, 1954; E. F. L. Abeyratne, 1956). As seen in Hambantota District it constitutes the clearing and burning of the forest cover over a selected area of land, cultivating for one or two years in the Maha season with a variety of crops, and abandoning the clearing for five to eight years before using it again.
