The Theory and Application of a New Method of Detecting Chromosomal Rearrangements in ,rom nuclear detonations. The method, itself, is an outgrowth of studies of the bithorax pseudoallelic genes near the middle of the right arm of the third chromosome (Lewis, 1951). It will be called the “bithorax” method. Early Contacts Between Bali and IndiaThe bithorax complex (BX-C) is a set of master control genes that regulates other genes outside the complex to program much of the development of the thorax and abdomen of the fly. The emphasis in this paper will be on how the genes of the complex are themselves regulated, rather than on how they regulate other genes.
