Vergleichende Anwendung von cis(Z)-Clopenthixol und Haloperidol bei Patienten mit akuten schizophrenen Psychosenung, findet seit ca. 20 Jahren Verwendung in der Therapie akuter und chronisch schizophrener Psychosen. Von Clopenthixol liegen 2 Isomere vor, wobei im Gegensatz zum trans-Isomer lediglich das cis-Isomer antipsychotisch wirksam ist. Das bisher übliche Clopenthixol weist lediglich einen Anteil des cis-Isomers von ca. 35% auf.
