A Solar Hydrogen Energy System,nearly complete sample of Sbc, Sc galaxies does not show any distance bias in the (Malmquist-free) log v. vs. M(B) relation. This demonstrates that even the latter relation can be applied only to well defined samples of type-restricted galaxies, if unbiased distances are aimed at.

Main Sequence Fitting and the Distance to the Large Magellanic Cloud,rs. The sources of random and systematic error are briefly discussed, and the effects due to convective overshoot are estimated. The possibility of extending this technique to other galaxies is mentioned.

The Luminosity Index as a Distance Indicator and the Structure of the Virgo Cluster,and to confusion between the Virgo cluster proper (the S-cloud) and adjacent, but unrelated clouds at different distances. Two tests are presented which confirm the small scatter (σ ≈ 0.4 mag) of the corrected magnitude-luminosity index correlation (RC2 system) in the Virgo S cloud and in the Hercules supercluster.

In this contribution, we report on the sources of scatter in the Tully-Fisher relation and elaborate on a possible scheme which yields a scatter of only Ø.25 mag.
