Historical Survey of the Development of Creep Mechanics from its Beginnings in the Last Century to innings. Both experimental and theoretical points of view were taken into account. These shall here be reviewed up till about 1970, covering contributions from most industrial countries. Naturally this short review must be given by examples only. Many important contributions have to be left out or given in the references only.
