Laser Action in Cr-Doped Garnets and TungstatesWithin the class of vibronic transition metal solid state lasers Cr.-doped crystals represent favourable candidates for room-temperature applications. Due to the high stability of the valency of Cr., pure compounds with specific trivalent types of luminescent centers can be grown. Mostly high quantum efficiencies at room-temperature are observed.
