Optical Transitions in Semiconductors,The purpose of this chapter is to give an introduction to the theory of optical transitions in semiconductors, to provide the “theoretical minimum” for the understanding of the next chapters. We aim to present the reasoning as clearly and straightforwardly as possible, avoiding both shallowness and unnecessary attention to details.
