Analysis of Factors Involved in the Tissue Selectivity of Calcium Antagonistseptors where H. antagonists do not interact with H. receptors and vice versa. A question that has been raised several times (Godfraind et al., 1986), is the existence of a possible tissue selectivity of calcium antagonists. In other words, does any selectivity exist in the pharmacology of calcium channels ?

Empirische Ergebnisse und Diskussion, coplasmic reticulum (SR). The investigation of this key question of the E-C coupling has resulted in two principal hypotheses about the nature of the T-SR signal transmission: (i) Ca. release from SR triggered by a change in tubular membrane polarization and (ii) Ca. release induced by specific chemical transmitter from the T-system.

Na/Ca Exchange and First Messenger Ca in Skeletal Muscle Excitation - Contraction Couplingeen discussed at this Conference: 1) structural links spanning the t-SR gap, such as the rigid rod model (Schneider and Chandler, 1973), and 2) chemical links including trigger Ca (Bianchi, 1969 and Frank, 1980).

The Functional Role of T-Tubular Calcium Channels in Skeletal Muscle Contractions For this reason in my initial studies I used high K.-induced contractures in a Na.-free solution as a model for the events occurring during e-c coupling in both types of muscle activity (Frank, 1958, 1960).

Ca2+ Antagonists as Tools in the Analysis of Excitation-Contraction Coupling in Skeletal Muscle Fibrnylalkylamines (PAA.) and benzothiazepines (BTZ.). These classes appear to have different binding sites at the Ca. channel which show a reciprocal allosteric interaction among each other and with additional Ca. binding sites (Glossmann et al., 1985).
