Studies in Systems, Decision and Controly was used by the prison authorities to legitimise the practice of strip-searching. The chapter will challenge the official discourse around the use of strip-searching by examining how the women experienced and responded to this particular type of gendered punishment, and how it was used to control and discipline the bodies of political prisoners.
