Surfing Florida: History of an Underdoglustrated by glocal legends of surfing, including Kelly Slater. Based on this portrait of Floridian surfing, the chapter proposes a definition of the practice as a lifestyle and a subculture (a notion also redefined in this work). The issues of gender and race in surfing are introduced and discussed.

Contextualizing Ethno-Aesthetic Mobilities: Toward Floridian Surfing and Surf Music music are put into perspective in the processes of cultural acquisition and cultural capital construction that result in the production of a singular and subjective subculture.
